Luminous Creatures Press

Luminous Creatures Press represents the writing and editing teamwork of Emily June Street and Beth Deitchman. We started writing together in January of 2012, working mostly on fantasy stories. At first we met once a month, reading and discussing each other’s work, but soon it became obvious that we should meet more often and push ourselves further. So we did. Soon we each had written something that we’d like to share with more people. We thought about submitting our work to existing publishing companies, but we decided that we didn’t want to lose control over our stories. One Wednesday afternoon in June, Emily suggested forming our own publishing company. She was very convincing. And so Luminous Creatures Press was born.

Luminous Creatures Press has now published five novels and three anthologies of short stories. We have even more in the works, and we have expanded into other domains as well, including editing, formatting, and helping others to navigate the self-publishing maze.

Beth DeitchmanBeth Deitchman wrote her first book in third grade. Since then she has also had short-lived but very entertaining careers as a dancer, a university lecturer, and an actor. These days she writes and teaches Pilates in Northern California where she lives with her husband, Dave and dog, Ralphie. She has a PhD in English, and she is the author of the Regency Magic series, whimsical tales of magic and manners set in the world of Jane Austen that include Mary Bennet and the Bloomsbury Coven and Margaret Dashwood and the Enchanted Atlas. She is currently hard at work on the third installment of the series, Susan Price and the Staff of Adalet, as well as a novel about ballet dancers.

Emily June StreetEmily June Street began writing as a child and never stopped. She has written three novels, Velo Races, Secret Room, and The Gantean. Writing and editing are how she relaxes after a long day of rolling like a ball at her real job as a Pilates instructor. She has a Master’s degree in library science, which she figures makes her pretty good at picking the metadata for LCP’s books, if nothing else. When not hanging upside down in her Pilates studio or bleeding on her keyboard, she can be found cycling or swinging high on a flying trapeze. She is furiously writing the remaining six books of the epic fantasy series opened by The Gantean, Tales of Blood and Light.
