Sixty Seconds with: Ellen Staley

Ten answers to ten questions in 20 words or fewer. That’s less time than it takes to burn a match*.

(*Depending on the length of the match and your tolerance for burned fingers, obviously)

Our newest Flash! Friday winner is Ellen Staley. Read her winning story here. Then take one minute* to get to know her better!  *Seriously–time it!

1) What about the prompt inspired your winning piece?  Knight + petrified damsel = rescue me! The switch was the knightly way.

2) How long have you been writing flash? I started about a month ago.

3) What do you like about flash? It forces me to focus the story.

4) What flash advice would you give other writers? I’m way too new to offer advice. {Editor’s Note: Your dragon trophy would beg to differ!}

5) Who is a writer we should follow, and why? Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, James L. Rubart for their interesting twists, and the Bible for truth.

6) Do you participate in other flash contests, and which? Just one other right now: Christian Flash Weekly. {Editor’s Note: #CFW, hosted by FF regular Charles W. Short, has been on hiatus but will relaunch shortly. Free plug: he is looking for judges for the next round.}

7) What other forms do you write (novels, poetry, articles, etc)? )?  I’ve attempted an article recently, and have a novel in progress.

8) What is/are your favorite genre(s) to write, and why? Based on my favorite reads, Christian speculative fiction, which is what my WIP is. I think.

9) Tell us about a WIP.  It’s about a man who, when wooed by God, resists and denies Him.

10) How do you feel about dragons? I’m so glad to know there’s a video on how to train your dragon, you know, just in case.
